Optimizing and Customizing the Application

TopLink provides a diverse set of features to optimize performance including the following:

• Enhancing queries

• Tuning the cache

• Scaling to multiple server configuration

You enable or disable most features in the descriptors or session, making any resulting performance gains global.

Using TopLink EIS (see "Enterprise Information System (EIS) Usage"), you can integrate a TopLink application with legacy data sources using a J2C adapter. This is the most efficient way to customize a TopLink application to accommodate unusual or nonstandard systems.

Using TopLink XML (see "XML Usage"), you can integrate a TopLink application with legacy data sources using a Web service.
