Preface

This guide provides a quick start to using spatial (location-based) data with the Oracle Locator feature of Oracle Database Express Edition (Oracle Database XE).

Audience

This guide is intended for those who need to store and manage spatial data in the database. It assumes that you are familiar with the main concepts and techniques described in Oracle Database Express Edition 2 Day Developer Guide, and especially that you know how to create, upload, and run SQL scripts.

Convention	Meaning
boldface	Boldface type indicates graphical user interface elements associated with an action, or terms defined in text or the glossary.
italic	Italic type indicates book titles, emphasis, or placeholder variables for which you supply particular values.
monospace	Monospace type indicates commands within a paragraph, URLs, code in examples, text that appears on the screen, or text that you enter.
