Creating and Editing Messaging Plans


After you have verified the approved PCD content and made it accessible to select users by adding appropriate private categories to the Literature record, you must create a messaging plan that can be distributed to the various sales representatives. The sales representative can use these messaging plans during their face to face calls with targeted customers.

To create a messaging plan

  1. Navigate to Messaging Plans > Messaging Plan List view.
  2. Click New to launch the Create Messaging Plan window.

    NOTE:  This window is often referred to as PCD Planner when messages are loaded into the Siebel Business Application.

  3. From the Create Messaging Plan window:
    1. Click the Items tab to view the content items that are available to you.
    2. Drag and drop individual items in to the Presentation Items area to start creating your own customized messaging plan.

      You can associate additional items to be made accessible to the user as Related Messages and Detailed Messages when viewing a presentation item in PCD Viewer as follows:

      • Drag an item to the Presentation Items area.
      • Select the item, then drag and drop the item to the Related Messages or Detailed Messages area to automatically create an association with the selected additional items.
    3. Click the Plans tab to view previously created messaging plans that you might want to reuse.
    4. Drag and drop previously created plans to the Presentation Items, Related Messages and Detailed Messages area, as required.
  4. Click More Information to view additional messaging plan information as required.

    For example, you can view a short description or some speaker notes to aid with the presentation of the message. You might also see some information about the audience for whom the message is targeted.

  5. Click Filter if you want to search the messaging plan for a specific value.

    If the Items tab is selected, then the Filter tab shows the filter attributes for the messages, (that is, content items). If the Plans tab is selected, the Filter tab shows the filter attributes for the messaging plans.

    1. Enter the field attributes that you want to filter and click OK to start the filtering process.
    2. Click Reset to clear the messaging plan filter attributes previously set.
  6. Click Save As to display the Save Messaging Plan dialog box.
  7. Enter your messaging plan name.
  8. Select the Product for which the messaging plan is being created.
  9. Click Save.

    The Create Messaging Plan window closes and the Messaging Plan List view is displayed. The messaging plan is written to the Siebel database and is visible from the Messaging Plans screen.

After you have created a messaging plan, you can edit the plan by clicking the Edit button in the Messaging Plan Detail view.

To edit a messaging plan

  1. From the Messaging Plan Detail view, select a record, drill down on the Name field, and click Edit.

    You can modify any of the presentation items or related or detailed messages in your messaging plan.

  2. Click Save.
  3. (Optional) Click Preview if you want to review the messaging plan.
