This diagram shows three boxes, which represent three different 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.2.0) Oracle homes. The first box includes an OC4J instance called OC4J1, which serves as the administration OC4J. This is the OC4J instance that hosts the active Application Server Control application (ascontrol). An oval shape within the OC4J1 instance represents the administration credentials, which are stored in the Oracle home that hosts the administration OC4J.

Connecting lines are used to show how the ascontrol application must locate and read the local administration credentials (in this case oc4jadmin/securepwd1) and then use those credentials to connect to each of the other OC4J instances. For the connection to be successful, each of the other OC4J instances that are being managed by the Application Server Control must have its own oc4jadmin account that uses the same password as the administration credentials.
