User Scenarios for Mapping Sleeping Rooms

The following scenarios give examples of sleeping room mapping. You may use different mappings, depending on your business model.

Suppose a hotel uses the following mapping:


Generic Room Type	Property Specific Room Type	Distribution %
Generic Standard	King City View	75%
Generic Standard	Double City View	25%
Generic Deluxe	King Ocean View	50%
Generic Deluxe	Double Ocean View	50%

If a customer requests 50 Generic Standard rooms and 100 Standard Deluxe rooms, the mapping returns the following quote:


Property Specific Room Type	Distribution %	Number of rooms after distribution	Rounding (if applicable)
King City View	75% of 50 rooms	37.5	37
Double City View	25% of 50 rooms	12.5	13
King Ocean View	50% of 100 rooms	50	50
Double Ocean View	50% of 100 rooms	50	50

Suppose a different hotel uses the following mapping:


Generic Room Type	Property Specific Room Type	Distribution %
Generic Standard	King City View	75%
Generic Standard	Double City View	25%
Generic Deluxe	Double City View	25%
	King Ocean View	25%
	Double Ocean View	50%

Notice that the Double City View room type has been mapped to both Generic Room types. If a customer requests 50 Generic Standard rooms and 100 Generic Deluxe rooms, the mapping returns the following quote:

Because the Double City View room type is mapped to both the Generic Standard and Generic Deluxe room types, the distribution totals are combined. The quote displays one count for the combined room type, as shown in the following table:
