Adding New Partners


The setup chapter of Siebel Partner Relationship Management Administration Guide describes a process of adding new partners.

In Siebel PRM, individuals and companies typically apply to become partners by registering at the Siebel Partner Portal. When they register, they enter information that is stored in a Prospective Partner record. When the financial institution approves them, the Prospective Partner record is converted to a Partner record.

In the financial industry, depending on your business model, you may or may not want to allow individuals or companies to apply online to become your partners.

If you allow potential partners to apply online, follow the process of adding new partners that is described in Siebel Partner Relationship Management Administration Guide.

If you do not allow potential partners to apply online, the section about Registering Individual Partners in the setup chapter of Siebel Partner Relationship Management Administration Guide does not apply to you.

In addition, if you do not allow potential partners to apply online, you will use a different process to add new partners than the process described in Siebel Partner Relationship Management Administration Guide. In the setup chapter of Siebel Partner Relationship Management Administration Guide, the enrollment process begins with the following two steps:

  • Display and assess prospective partners. Begin by displaying the list of prospective partners recruited through the Web and deciding which to approve as partners.
  • Add a Partner record for the partner company. You typically add a Partner record by approving a prospective partner.

If you do not allow potential partners to apply online, these two steps should be replaced by the following:

  • Recruit new partners. Recruit partners in the same ways that you have in the past, without using Siebel PRM.
  • Add a Partner record. Add a record for the new partner directly in the Partner Administration screen, in the Approved Partner view, or import the partner record using EIM.

After the first two steps, the rest of the process of adding a new partner or partner is similar to Siebel PRM.

If you do not allow partners to apply online, you add a new partner as follows:

  • Begin by adding a Partner record directly in the Approved Partner view, using the method described in the section about other ways of adding partner records, at the end of the setup chapter of Siebel Partner Relationship Management Administration Guide.
  • Then click Register to create the partner organization. This is similar to the process described in the setup chapter of Siebel Partner Relationship Management Administration Guide, except that you can choose a parent organization for the new partner, rather than just being able to choose a parent division.
  • After registering, you continue the process of assigning responsibilities, positions, and master data to the partner company and of adding user assignments at the partner company, as described in the setup chapter of Siebel Partner Relationship Management Administration Guide.

NOTE:  When you add a record in the Approved Partner view, you have not yet created the partner company. You have just added an Account record with Partner in the Partner Type field. You create the partner company when you click Register, creating an Organization record representing the partner in addition to the Account record.
