This information usually includes a database account and a Siebel user ID. The authentication system resides outside of the server database. Guidelines for Using a Security AdapterTo authenticate a synchronization session for a remote client, Siebel Remote can use a security adapter. A security adapter is a plug-in to the authentication manager. To retrieve the Siebel user ID, the security adapter uses credentials from a database account and, optionally, a set of roles from the authentication system. The user enters these credentials or an authentication service provides them. If you use a security adapter, then consider the following guidelines:
