Creating a Content Path

Setting up a Content Path allows news authors to automate many of the processes associated with publishing a news story. Group News administrators create content paths in the Group News Administration views; news authors associate content paths with news stories.

A Content Path defines a set of attributes for the news stories associated with the Content Path. These attributes include:

  • Where and when the news story is published (stages)
  • The individuals responsible for editing and approving the news story (approvers workflow)
  • The business process that automates the approval process (approver workflow)
  • The groups of users that have visibility rights to the news story (access groups)
  • The format in which the news story is published
  • Whether the news story should be archived

This task is a step in Process of Managing Group News.

To create a content path

  1. From the application-level menu, choose Navigate > Site Map > Administration - Group News > Content Path.
  2. In the Content Path list, add a new record, complete the fields, and save the record.

The following table describes some of the fields.

    Field
    Comments

    Name

The name of the content path.

    Workflow

The appropriate Group news workflow approver process. When selecting the workflow process, make sure its status is Active. If the workflow process is not active, authors cannot select it when creating a news story. For more information, see Siebel Business Process Designer Administration Guide.

    Status

The status of a new content path is automatically set to Inactive. Setting the status to Active allows authors to select the content path when they create a story.

    Private

The Private flag is selected by default, restricting the visibility of the Content Path to certain groups. Remove the check mark (flag) from the Private check box if the content can be viewed by all employees.

    Description

Description of the content path. Include information on which access groups are receiving the content.
