Defining the External Host and Symbolic URLs

Establishing an external host and symbolic URLs allow for the display of external data (from an external Web site) in the Siebel application. This procedure informs the Siebel application where to find the Active Portal.

For Siebel reports, configuring Host Administration and Symbolic URLs will:

  • Allow the display of the content for My Reports, My Jobs, and Personal Profile views under Reports Server Screens.

The external application used is the Siebel Reports View Adapter.

  • Allow for the Running and Scheduling of Reports using Active Portal.
  • Provide the Single Sign-On technology that eliminates the need to log in manually to the Reports Server.

For more information, also see the Siebel Portal Framework Guide on the Siebel Bookshelf.
