Initiating Parametric Search with a Product Family Selected

You might want to have the product family selected when the user accesses the Parametric Search page from the Know What You Want applet. This is done by passing class information to the Parametric Search form so that it appears with a default product family. This customization is done in Siebel Tools.

To set the parametric search product family

1. In Siebel Tools, lock the Parametric Search project.
2. Select the Applet object, and then query for Parametric Search GotoView Applet.
3. Expand the Applet object, and then select Applet User Prop.

   The Applet User Properties list appears.

4. Make Class Name active and Instructions inactive.

NOTE:  Instructions is normally active, in which case there will be no default class.

5. In your Siebel employee application, from the application level menu, choose View > Site Map > Application Administration > List of Values.
6. In the List of Values list, query for PARAMETRIC_SEARCH_CLASS_NAME.
7. Change the display value to the Class Name (not class Display Name) of the class you want to be the default.
8. Compile the .srf file, selecting the Locked projects radio button.

NOTE:  If both user properties are enabled, Instructions takes precedence.
