What's New in This Release

The following topics are new for this release.

  • Microsite Management. Application administrators can now use templates to create portal pages to which you can add text as well as links to HTML pages and documents that can reside on any file server or Web server. Portal pages are useful for displaying marketing collateral, news articles, group news, financial information, press releases, and other kinds of unstructured content.
  • Category Display Templates. The number of catalog category display templates has been increased to five to give more options for how information can be displayed. The new templates are called Category Only and Multiselect Checkbox.
  • Product Availability Information. If you integrate with an external availability-to-promise engine, consumers can check product availability information before making a purchase. The Shopping Cart displays the available dates and quantities for the selected products.
  • Enhanced Ordering Templates. Consumers create templates to store groups of products that they may want to buy in the future. They can now add products to existing templates from the Shopping Cart and catalog.
  • Integration Capabilities. You can display content from other Web sites. For example, you can display stock quotes or searches from another Web site on the same page as Siebel application data.
  • Shipment Tracking. If you integrate with an external shipment tracking system, consumers can track the shipment status of their orders through your Siebel eSales Web site.
  • Credit Check. If you integrate with a third-party accounts receivable or credit management application, you can check the credit standing of business customers who want to pay with a purchase order.
  • Improved Purchase Order Handling. A Web Corporate User can now place an order without having to enter a purchase order number. When this happens, the order is routed to the Web Purchasing Manager for the number to be added. Also, the ability to approve purchase orders can now be set for individual contacts. Previously, this ability could only be set for accounts.
  • Asset Management. Consumers can register their products, and manage product maintenance and warranties, through your Siebel eSales Web site.
  • Persistent Shopping Cart. Anonymous users (users who have added items to their Shopping Cart but who have not yet registered) will now be recognized when they return to your Siebel eSales Web site.
  • Deletion of Anonymous Shopping Carts. Anonymous Shopping Carts can now be automatically deleted after a set time.
  • Tax Calculation for Customizable Products. You can now automatically calculate tax on the individual components of a customizable product, allowing them to be taxed at different rates. Previously, a single tax rate was applied to the entire customizable product. This feature requires integration with Taxware applications.
  • Delegated User Responsibility. You can now select which responsibilities are visible to Web Delegated Customer Administrators.
  • Country Codes. More country codes have been added. If a country code that you want to use does not appear in a list of values drop-down list, you will need to activate it. For information about how to activate language codes, see Application Administration Guide.
