Introduction


 

This guide describes how administrators and end users are expected to use the features and procedures that are specific to the standard Siebel Consumer Sector applications. It should be used in combination with other books in the Application Administration of the Siebel Bookshelf CD-ROM. However, the information in this book supersedes information about standard Siebel products provided in other documentation. In addition, some configuration information that is specific for Siebel Consumer Sector applications is included in this guide.

This book will be useful to people whose titles or job descriptions match one of the following:

Call Center Administrators

Persons responsible for setting up and maintaining a call center. Duties may include designing and managing Computer Telephony Integration (CTI), SmartScripts, and message broadcasts.

Database Administrators

Persons who administer the database system, including data loading, system monitoring, backup and recovery, space allocation and sizing, and user account management.

Marketing Administrators

Persons responsible for setting up and maintaining a marketing department. Duties may include: defining and maintaining account hierarchies and account profiles, creating and managing promotional campaigns or product marketing information, defining corporate objectives and activities, creating (or importing) sales volume planning data, and defining and maintaining and product distribution lists.

Siebel Application Administrators

Persons responsible for planning, setting up, and maintaining Siebel applications.

Siebel Application Developers

Persons who plan, implement, and configure Siebel applications, possibly adding new functionality.

Siebel System Administrators

Persons responsible for the whole system, including installing, maintaining, and upgrading Siebel applications.
