Recording Readings From Assets

Follow these procedures to record readings of measurements from assets.

To record a reading for an asset

  1. Navigate to the Assets screen.
  2. Select an asset.
  3. Click the Readings view tab and select a measurement type record.
  4. Click the Readings subview tab.
  5. In the Readings form, create a new record for a reading associated with this asset and measurement type.
  6. In the Reading field, enter the value of the reading.
  7. Enter information in the required fields.
  8. When the reading is complete, select the Done check box.
  9. The record becomes read-only. This check box must be selected in order for the reading to be charted.

CAUTION:  If the product of an asset has been changed since the asset was created, then measurement types that are not defined for the current product may remain associated with the asset. Thus it is possible to record a measurement that is invalid for the asset. This may cause a database integrity failure. Therefore, it is recommended that you validate measurement types between the asset and its product every time you take a reading.
