Barcode Data Processing

In the New or Update mode, your Siebel application follows this process to add barcode data to the database:

Checks for these settings in the Barcode toolbar:
New or Update mode
Data type in the Use drop-down list
Checks in the Barcode Mapping table to determine the following:
Whether the barcode data is to update an existing record or create a new record in the selected view
Which field the barcode data goes to
Writes the barcode data to the selected view, tab, and field.

NOTE:  When the system creates new records for barcode data, it also fills in other fields as appropriate; for example, the current date and time.
