Siebel Field Service Guide > Using Third-Party Invoicing Applications >

Invoicing Integration Overview

Siebel invoice integration is designed for companies that rely on traditional back-office billing and accounting applications to perform billing for products sold and services rendered. The invoice retrieval business process assumes that the billable source data (billable time, expenses, and materials) has been sent from your Siebel application to a billing application for invoice processing.

After generating a final customer invoice, the third-party invoicing application can publish the invoice data into an XML file. This invoice file is then passed to your Siebel application. Your Siebel application updates the Invoice business object and propagates the invoice data into the base tables. Your Siebel application then displays the invoice in the Invoices views, where the data is read-only.

This functionality assists Siebel end users with answering inquiries from customers about their invoices. A Siebel end user can view a customer invoice while in the Siebel application, without having to access the third party invoicing application.

Integration with an invoicing application uses the business service named Siebel Invoice, of type Data Synchronization. In addition, it uses a prebuilt Application Services Interface (ASI) named Siebel Invoice.

For more information about how to set up, use, and modify integrations based on ASIs, see Application Services Interface Reference: Siebel eBusiness Application Integration Volume VI.
