Sales Crediting Support Operations
As an administrator, you may be involved in two Sales Crediting support activities, maintaining Assignment Rules and recovering Sales Credit Assignment data after a failure.
Maintaining Credit Assignments
Administrators set up and maintain sales hierarchies and assignment rules. Typically, administrators perform the following activities:
- Create assignment rules based on customizable criteria (account, location, and so on) and associate the rules with territories in the sales hierarchy
- Initiate a rule approval process to activate the rules
For more information, see Sales Hierarchies.
Assignment Failure and Recovery of Data
If the SCA fails cleanly, it changes the crediting status of orders that it was processing to Run Assignment, restarts, and processes the Run Assignment orders.
If the SCA fails abruptly, it changes the crediting status of the orders that it was processing to System Error.
If Assignment Manager fails, the SCA is notified of the failure by the Siebel infrastructure. In this case, the SCA continues processing the order using another Assignment Manager. If it cannot locate another Assignment Manager, the SCA changes the crediting status for the orders to System Error.
