Creating an Auction from a Product

You can create an auction from an existing fixed-price product in the catalog. The product must be an item that already has a predetermined price. Also, this feature is only available if you have Siebel eSales installed in addition to Siebel eAuction.

NOTE:  The Create Auction button on the Product screen will only be enabled if the product has been categorized.

Catalog and category information is automatically added when an auction is created from a product. To change this information, the lister should edit the auction using the Update Auctions link.

The Create Auction wizard is much shorter than the wizard shown in the previous procedure. Many of the fields will be completed for you in advance.

To create an auction from a product

  1. Navigate to the Catalog Administration screen.
  2. Click the hyperlink for the catalog that contains the product.

    3. The Categories screen appears.

  3. Select the category for the auction and click the Products tab.
  4. From the Products list, click the hyperlink for the product.

    5. The Product screen appears.

  5. Click Create Auction.

    6. The Create Auction wizard appears.

  6. Follow the Create Auction steps to add your auction information.

NOTE:  You can also create an auction from a product by clicking the Products tab, selecting the product from the Products list, and clicking the hyperlink for the product. From the Product form, click the menu button and choose Create Auction.
