Configure general properties for ESX Agents

Before you begin

Review Configure and manage Agents.

The General tab on the Agent page enables you to configure information about the ESX Agent and its Virtual Center. You configure the general properties initially when you create an Agent using the WLOC Configuration Wizard, as described in Configuring the Controller and Agents.

To configure the general properties for an Agent:

  1. Access the Agent page in one of the following ways:
    • Click the Inventory tab in the WLOC navigation bar, expand the list of Agents in the Inventory pane, and click the name of the Agent.
    • Click the Agents tab in the WLOC navigation bar and click the name of the Agent that you want to configure in the Agents table.
    • Click the Home tab in the WLOC navigation bar, click Agents under Manage Configuration, and click the name of the Agent that you want to configure in the Agents table.
  2. Click the General tab on the Agent page.
  3. Modify the following general properties, as required:
    Field Description

    Description

Description of the Agent. This field is optional.

    VC Host

Name of the VMware VirtualCenter host.

    VC Username

User name used to access the VirtualCenter.

    VC Password

Password used to access the VirtualCenter.

    Keystore

Name of the keystore. The keystore is used to secure communications between processes.

    Keystore Password

Password used to access the keystore.

    Enable Syslog Publisher

Flag that specifies whether to enable the remote syslog publisher. LiquidVM implements the syslog standard (RFC3164) as a service that you can configure to publish syslog information to a remote syslog collector.

    Heartbeat interval

Interval of time (in seconds) that the ESX Agent polls the VMware VirtualCenter to check for life cycle changes for the instances it is managing.

    Password

Password used to authenticate the Agent with the Controller. It must match the password defined for the corresponding Agent binding, as described in Register Agents with the Controller.

If you edit the Password field, you must shut down and restart the Agent, as described in Shut down Agents and Starting and Stopping the Controller and Agents, respectively.

The name and type of the Agent cannot be modified after the Agent is created using the WLOC Configuration Wizard.
  4. Click Save.
The changes are saved and the following confirmation message is displayed:
