Requesting Promoting - Endpoints

In order for your endpoints to be available to users of the Discovery Registry, they must be approved for promotion from the Publication Registry. Because the same approval process is used to remove data that you own from the Discover Registry, we describe both promotion and demotion of endpoints here.

[Important]Important

To promote an endpoint, its parent structure must already exist on the Discovery Registry, or be scheduled for promotion.

Request Submission

Once you have an endpoint you are satisfied with, you can request promotion as follows:

  1. Log on to the Publishing registry.

  2. On the Catalog tab, select the Endpoints link.

  3. On the main window, select the link labeled My Endpoints.

  4. On the panel labeled List of my endpoints, check the box next to the name of the endpoint you want to promote to the Discovery registry or demote from the Discovery registry.

  5. From the drop down list labeled Select an Action, select the Promote/Demote action and click the button labeled Go. This returns the Add to Approval Request screen.

  6. On the Add to Approval Request screen:

    1. All structures on which this record has a dependency are shown.

    2. Choose the Promote or Demote radio button depending on the task you want to perform.

    3. Click either Create a new request or Add to an existing request.

    4. If this is a new request provide it with a name.

    5. If this is a new request, you may also want to provide it with a description. If you are adding to an existing request the discription may be edited.

    6. Click whether to Submit for immediate approval or To save and return back to the previous page.

When submitting for approval you may want to add a message to be included in the body of the email sent to the approver.

    7. Click the OK button.

  7. If you are submitting the request immediately, you will be returned to the List of my Endpoints page with a message confirming that the request was successfully submitted. You can find your submitted requests under the Tools tab in the Submitted Approval Requests list.

If you have saved the request you can always find it under the Tools tab in the Unsubmitted Approval Requests list, until it has been submitted.

The approval contact will be alerted to your request, and upon review will either reject or approve it.
