Selecting an XSD Schema Key

XSD Schema keys are needed in search forms where XSD Schemas can be a search parameter. Such forms are most frequently a part XML document searches or a part of XSLT Transform searches. XML documents contain instances of one or more schemas. XSLT Transforms work with schemas to describe input and output documents.

To Select an XSD Schema Key...

  1. You load the Select XML Schema control usually by clicking the Select XML schema button on an originating control. The point of this control is to return a valid XSD key into an edit field in the originating control.

  2. Narrow your schema search by Location URL, Namespace, a Type defined within the schema, or an Element defined within. Simply enter all or part of the search string using wildcards in the appropriate edit field.

  3. Click the Find button at the bottom of the control. A list of all schemas matching your query will be returned in a list. If nothing is found, click the Search tab at the bottom of the page and go back one step to reset your search parameters.

  4. Locate the schema you want to use in the list and click its Select schema tModel key icon on the left. This is the icon that looks like a pad of paper with a plus sign in the lower right corner.

  5. The Key value will be returned to the edit field in the original control. You can continue your actions from there.

Note that as of this release (6.5) the Business Service Console does not automatically generate Type and Element records when a schema is published. However this option is available in the Standard Console.
