Create application-scoped constraints


A constraint defines minimum and maximum numbers of threads allocated to execute requests and the total number of requests that can be queued or executing before WebLogic Server begins rejecting requests.

Note: A Work Manager can contain only one constraint of each type. If you select to associate a Work Manager with a global constraint of a particular type, do not create an application-scoped constraint of the same type.

To create an application-scoped constraint:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane of the Console, select Deployments.
  3. In the Deployments table, click the name of the application for which you want to create a constraint.
  4. Select Configuration > Workload and select the Work Manager for which you want to create a constraint.
  5. Click New.
  6. Select the radio button next to the type of constraint you want to create.

  7. Click Next.
  8. Enter the configuration information based upon the type of constraint you are creating.

  9. Click Finish.
  10. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
    Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).

Result

The new application-scoped constraint is assigned to the Work Manager you selected and appears in the Application-Scoped Work Managers table.
