Set the log severity threshold

Before you begin

Review View and configure log and audit messages.


You can filter the log messages that are stored in the log file and displayed to stdout. Messages with a severity that is lower than the specified severity will not be stored in the log file or displayed to stdout. By default, logs of severity Info are saved to the log file.

To set the log severity threshold:

  1. To set the log severity threshold for the Controller, access the Controller page in one of the following ways:
    • Click the Controller tab in the WLOC navigation bar.
    • Click the Home tab in the WLOC navigation bar and click Controller under Manage Configuration.

    To set the log severity threshold for an Agent, access the Agent page in one of the following ways:

    • Click the Inventory tab in the WLOC navigation bar, expand the Agents list in the Inventory pane, and click the name of the Agent.
    • Click the Agents tab in the WLOC navigation bar and click the name of the Agent that you want to configure in the Agents table.
    • Click the Home tab in the WLOC navigation bar, click Agents under Manage Configuration, and click the name of the Agent that you want to configure in the Agents table.
  2. Click the Logging or Audit tab on the Controller or Agent page to configure the log or audit file location, respectively.
  3. Modify the following field.
    Field Description

    Severity

    Severity of the log messages that are written to the log file. Valid options include: Emergency, Alert, Critical, Error, Warning, Notice, Info, Debug, and Trace. This field defaults to Info.

    Standard Out Severity

    Severity of the log messages that are writtent to standard out. Valid options include: Emergency, Alert, Critical, Error, Warning, Notice, Info, Debug, and Trace. This field defaults to Info.

  4. Click Save.

    The log configuration is updated and the following confirmation message is displayed:

    Settings updated successfully
