The Business Services Console

The customizable Business Services Console (BSC) presents a new paradigm in working with a Web services registry. It is designed to be more easily understood. It is designed to simplify the steps needed to browse through and search for essential information. It is also designed to ensure that whenever a new record is published that essential discovery information is always included.

The BSC console abstracts registry management tasks in three different ways. First, from Anonymous to Administrator, users are assigned or may select profiles that define the ways in which they may work with the registry.

The console is organized around a series of tabbed pages that aggregate common similar controls. The tabs that a user can access depend upon the general user profile and access permissions.

Most often users are looking to retrieve select information from the registry. The console organizes common information sets into standardized views that are easy to understand and work with.

Furthermore, friendlier names are provided in place of their more arcane UDDI counterparts. Common UDDI types such as businessEntities, businessServices and tModels, are rationalized into a layer of Business, Service, Endpoint, Interface and similar record types.

When publishing, it takes only a URL to a WSDL, to automatically generate many Registry records.

From user profiles, to tabs, views and reporting mechanisms, all aspects of this console can be fully customized. If there is a browse, search or publish feature not present out-of-the-box it can easily be plugged in using Java Server Pages (JSP), special BSC Tag libraries, and by modifying the configuration. Administrators and Developers can read more about customization in the Standard Registry Documentation.
