Policies represent a set of assertions to be applied to one or more document types in the registry. This can be a requirements document spelled out for a technician to interpret and check. This can also be an XML document that can be programatically applied to service descriptions or XML based messages.

Defining how policies are to be implemented is currently reserved for Registry adiministrators. Still, policies can be handled like any other set of registry records in the catalog. They can be created, listed, or searched for.
