Understanding Endpoints

Endpoint records in the registry are a mapping of the WSDL service/port element. They track a live endpoint where a service implementation may be invoked. Furthermore, Registry endpoint records contain properties tracking such endpoint aspects as availability, compliance, and status. They may also have classification data associated so that they may described in a systematic manner allowing operators, developers and managers to better decide which service or endpoint they want their applications to call.

For reasons of the integrity of Registry data, you cannot create or publish an endpoint record directly. Endpoints are generated when services are published from WSDLs that represent service implementations replete with service/port elements.

Endpoint Details

The top Details tab of the Endpoint Details page displays the Access point of the endpoint, the service it implements, and the provider responsible for that service. Further you will find a complete set of properties such as usage, compliance, availability, and status, that define important aspects of the endpoint. You will also be able to locate contact information and search Keywords associated with the record.

The Classification tab lets you view taxonomic classifications associated with this endpoint.

The Technical Info tab leads to a list of information such as use type, implemented interfacesand bindings.

The References tab lists other records that reference the one represented in the view.

The System Info tab provides information such as identifier keys, and a history of access and changes.

The View all tab combines all of this information in a single page.

At anytime you can use the action drop down list box to edit, delete, or toggle Notification of changes, or establish a reference to the record you are viewing. Given the proper account type and permissions, clicking the Go button will launch one of these processes.
