Constraining Searches by Identifier

A Registry Identifier is a Keyed Value and a taxonomy. Unlike Categorization taxonomies, an identifier is usually unique for the record with which it is matched, in a given context. Identifiers may also be specified by algorithm.

Businesses and tModels may have an Identifier container that groups together identifiers assigned to them by any number of authorities or organizations.

To Constrain a Search by Identifier...

  1. Navigate to the Identifiers tab for the record you wish to modify.

    1. Click the Search tab.

    2. In the menu, click the item matching the record type for which you wish to search.

    3. Click the Identifiers tab. This is the third one from the top.

  2. Populate the By identifiers list.

    1. Click the Add identifier button.

    2. Select whether you want to filter displayed taxonomies by Favorite Taxonomies, Enterprise Taxonomies, All Taxonomies except system ones, or All Taxonomies including system ones.

    3. Identifier taxonomies are usually Unchecked.

      To Select an Identifier Taxonomy

      1. Drill down through the Taxonomy tree and locate the type of Identifier you want to use.

      2. Enter the Key Value in the edit box. This is required. Optionally enter the Key name as well. Take care that these are entered correctly. The "%" wildcard can also be used within the string to search using similar related values.

      3. Click the Add identifier arrows to the right of the control. The category will be added to the list.

Once the list contains at least one Keyed Value, you can execute the search.

  3. If necessary, set other constraints. These can be names, identities, tModels, or other depending on the type of record for which you are searching. If you need to change the combinatorial logic of the search terms do so in the Find Qualifiers tab.

  4. Click the Find button. The results are returned in the Results tab.
