Secure Transmission
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption is available for all communication with BEA over the Internet, and all communication with Guardian Agents in your target domain(s). Please note that Guardian uses 128 bit open source encryption for SSL. If you want to use SSL, there are three types of communication to consider:
- Target domain communication - To use SSL encryption for communications between BEA Guardian and your target domain(s), select the https:// communications protocol option in the Domain Activation Wizard. For instructions, see
Activate Domain on page 47 of Tasks.
- Signature downloads - To use SSL encryption when downloading signatures from BEA Support, select Require SSL in the Guardian Preferences configuration page. This will also set SSL encryption for uploading signature usage statistics (see
Privacy on page 25). For instructions on configuring your Guardian preferences, see
Preferences on page 44 of Tasks.
- Support case creation - To use SSL encryption when opening support cases with BEA Support, select Require SSL in the Guardian Preferences configuration page. For instructions on configuring your Guardian preferences, see
Preferences on page 44 of Tasks.
