The following features are new in BEA SNMP Agent 2.1:

New MIBs supported for Tuxedo 7.1 and WLE 5.1

New option that simplifies management of the BEA SNMP Agents

This new option enables you to run only one agent on one node to simplify management of agents, and to enable data collection from hardware platforms not directly supported by the SNMP software

In the BEA Manager product, SNMP agents had to run on every Tuxedo node to collect information and send it to the SNMP manager appication. However, the Tuxedo engine has its own mechanism for distributed data collection, the Tuxedo Management Information Base. In BEA SNMP Agent 2.1, you now have the option of running only one agent on one node (the master node) for full functionality support.

Doing so simplifies management of the agents and enables data collection from hardware platforms not directly supported by the BEA SNMP Agent software. This feature is initiated by a new command line -c option. When this option is specified, the agent becomes central for the entire domain and is enabled to gather information from all nodes involved.
