Introduction

This chapter provides an overview of the following enhancements to BEA TUXEDO Release 6.4:

In addition, all outstanding high-severity MRs have been resolved in this release.

Improved Domains Performance

This release improves the performance of the Domains gateway processes. Bottlenecks for network message traffic in the BEA TUXEDO system have been reduced significantly. This performance improvement is evident on all supported BEA TUXEDO Release 6.4 platforms.

Improved BRIDGE Processing

BEA TUXEDO Release 6.4 includes BRIDGE enhancements to leverage redundant hardware configurations. These enhancements improve BRIDGE processing throughput and connectivity. Multiple network addresses for the BRIDGE process allow all communications channels to be used simultaneously. This release also supports asynchronous reconnection of network links.

New Error Detail APIs

Release 6.4 includes two new error detail APIs to return more refined error codes: tperrordetail and tpstrerrordetail:

Improved System Availability Using WorkStation Client Time-Out

This release provides a configurable, client-side mechanism to detect lost connections between /WS clients and servers through WSH. The mechanism also returns an appropriate descriptive error code to you. Supported on all /WS platforms, this feature improves system availability and makes it easier for you to use the system.

Enhancements and Additional MRs

The following enhancements have been included in this release:

Integrated Development Environment on Windows NT

With Release 6.4, BEA TUXEDO offers a new integrated development environment. BEA TUXEDO integrates the software into the msdev environment and emulates the functionality of msdev when integration is not possible. This new feature makes it easier for you to develop BEA TUXEDO-enabled applications for 16-bit and 32-bit Windows operating systems. The integrated development environment operates seamlessly on Windows 95 and all currently supported Windows NT platforms (both Intel and Alpha).
