Update (redeploy) an Enterprise application

When you update an application, you can specify that WebLogic Server redeploy the original archive file or exploded directory, or you can specify that WebLogic Server deploy a new archive file in place of the original one. You can also change the directory that contains the deployment plan that is associated with the application. Update an application if you have made changes to the application and you want to make the changes available to WebLogic Server clients, or if you want to redeploy an entirely new archive file in a new location.

To update an application, follow these steps:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane of the Console, select Deployments. A table in the right pane displays all deployed Enterprise Applications and Application Modules.
  3. In the table, locate the Enterprise application you want to update (redeploy).
  4. Select the check box next to the name of the Enterprise application you want to update.
  5. Click Update.
  6. Using the Change Path buttons, select the new application archive or exploded directory or new deployment plan directory. If you want to simply redploy the original archive file and keep the same deployment plan directory, click Next immediately.
  7. After you have selected the archive file (either original or new) and deployment plan path, click Next.
  8. Click Finish after you have reviewed your choices.
  9. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
