Configuring a Business Object and Associated Business Components for Store-and-Forward Messaging

Before you start to configure the Business Object (BO) and its Business Components (BCs) for Store-and-Forward Messaging, make sure that:

  • The BO and associated BCs are defined in the corresponding Siebel Handheld application definition
  • The Siebel Handheld application supports the BO and BCs

If you plan to modify the sample workflows for the configuration, in the SMQ Outbound Activity to One Recipient, change the following input arguments in Generate Data Message Step 3

  • Change MessageObject to the name of the desired Business Object
  • Change BusComp to the name of business component to be extracted

Step 3 is used to extract data messages based on the Siebel Handheld application definition.

For a Store-and-Forward Messaging enabled Siebel Handheld application, you can find its Message Objects from Site Map > Administration - Store-and-Forward > Store-and-Forward Applications. In addition, make sure the input parameter Primary Row Id of the GenDataMsg() method to be Row Id of the Primary Business Component for the BO.

Alerts are displayed in the Wireless Alerts List View of the corresponding Siebel Handheld application to indicate:

  • That inbound messages have arrived at the device
  • The time when the messages were received.

To customize the alert text information to reflect the configured BO, change the input argument AlertText in the Generate Data Message Step 3.

The SMQ Outbound Activity to One Recipient takes the input process property Recipient. The value of this property is used to determine message recipients. Currently the property value is set as the field Primary Owned By of the Action BC by the SMQ Outbound Activity to Primary Owned By workflow. This property Recipient is configurable for other BO or BC to determine the message recipients.

No change is required for the inbound workflow, SMQ Process User Queue.
