Using Asynchronous Query with the Siebel Service Handheld Application

If a Service Handheld application is enabled with Asynchronous Query, you can perform asynchronous query for Products, Assets, Orders, and Solutions.

To perform an asynchronous query

1. Navigate to the Find window by tapping the Edit menu, then selecting Find.
2. Tap the Look In field, and select a Find object from the drop-down list.

   Depending on the object you select, the window displays the relevant Find fields.

3. Enter the query criteria into the displayed Find fields.
4. Tap the Server Find button at the bottom of the window.

   Your Siebel Handheld application sends a query request to the server by way of Store-and-Forward Messaging and displays a confirmation message.

   NOTE:  Tapping Find performs a query in the Siebel Handheld application's local database, and the operation returns the query results in the corresponding view. It does not retrieve asynchronous query results.

   When the asynchronous query results arrive at your Siebel Handheld application, the Asynchronous Query icon flashes.

5. Tap the Asynchronous Query icon to open the Async Query List view, which displays the returned asynchronous query results. This view displays the columns listed in the following table.

   Column	Comments
   Search Specification	Search criteria you entered.
   Object	Find object on which the query is based.
   Sent Time	Time when the asynchronous query request message was sent to the server.
   Received Time	Time when the query results arrived at the Siebel Handheld application.

6. Tap any button in the Async Query List view.

   The buttons are described in the following table:

   Button	Comments
   Details	Opens the Async Query Results view, which displays the list of records meeting the asynchronous query criteria. The columns displayed in this view depend on the Find object on which the query is based.
   Delete	Deletes the selected query record.
   Delete All	Removes all the queries.
   Refresh	If a new query result message arrives, tapping Refresh displays the new message.
   OK	Closes the Asynchronous Query List view.

NOTE:  After a user performs a handheld synchronization, all the data in the Async Query List and the Async Query Results views is removed.
