Administering Alternate Keywords

Use alternate keywords to suggest alternative search queries to users. This is useful for fixing common errors that users make in searching (for example, entering Oracel instead of Oracle). Also, synonyms can provide more relevant results; for example, cellular phones for cell phones. Alternate keywords can also be used for product code names, acronyms and abbreviations.

This task is executed in the Oracle Secure Enterprise Search Administration application.

To administer alternate keywords

  1. Navigate to the Search screen, and then the Alternate Words view.
  2. Complete the Alternate Words fields. The fields are described in the following table.

    User Input Keyword

This is the search term the user will enter, for example, SES.

This is the suggested text that will appear above the search results, whenever the user query contains the matching keyword(s). For example, if the user enters the search term SES, the suggested text Oracle Secure Enterprise Search will be displayed.

    Auto-Expand

Set this option to automatically include the alternate keyword as part of the search.
