Before you begin
When you start a view, polling commences for the charts in the view. That is, polling for data from the server begins so that the data can be represented in one or more metrics in the charts. When you stop a view, polling for the view stops.
Current data for metrics charts is polled from a data cache on the server. Historical data for metrics charts is retrieved from the WLDF data archive (see Pan through the historical data shown in a chart). If you stop all views, data is no longer added to the data cache on the server.
The Monitoring Dashboard provides the following visual cues to indicate state:
