In this figure, requests from the Internet are handled by a load balancer in the web tier, which routes each request to either WEBHOST1 or WEBHOST2 in the web tier. Oracle HTTP Server is installed on WEBHOST1 and WEBHOST2.

ECMHOST1 and ECMHOST2 are the application tier hosts. The Oracle WebLogic Administration Server is installed on ECMHOST1 and ECMHOST2. VIP 0 is configured for the Administration Server on ECMHOST1. An Oracle I/PM cluster is set up on ECMHOST1 and ECMHOST2, with managed server WLS_IPM1 running on ECMHOST1 and managed server WLS_IPM2 running on ECMHOST2. VIP 1 is configured for WLS_IPM1 and VIP 2 is configured for WLS_IPM2. There is an arrow from WLS_IPM1 and WLS_IPM2 to the Input Files icon.

An Oracle UCM cluster is set up on ECMHOST1 and ECMHOST2, with managed server WLS_UCM1 (UCM repository) running on ECMHOST1 and managed server WLS_UCM2 (UCM repository) running on ECMHOST2. There is an arrow from WLS_UCM1 and WLS_UCM2 to the JMS and TLogs icons. The UCM configuration for these managed servers is stored on a shared disk.

In the data tier, there is one Oracle RAC database labeled I/PM Configuration and another Oracle RAC database labeled UCM. There is an arrow from WLS_IPM1 and WLS_IPM2 to the I/PM Configuration database, and an arrow from WLS_UCM1 and WLS_UCM2 to the UCM database.
