About This Oracle TSAM Release

What's New and Improved

The current Oracle TSAM release provides the following new features:

•	Web 2.0 technologies used to dramatically improve the TSAM console usability

•	Improved functional organization and operation model

•	Improved GUI look and feel

•	Improved user interaction and response speed

•	Monitoring policy enhancements

•	Centralized policy repository

•	XA Transaction policy propagation

•	Finer level of granularity (service level) of monitoring scope

•	Automatic deployment on Web Container and Database

•	Performance Improvements

•	Reduce the overhead of live monitoring

•	Shorten the elapsed time between data collection at the agent and display at the Console

•	Access Control for TSAM Artifacts

•	Additional performance metrics

•	Call path: message size, total transport time, etc.

•	Call pattern: succeeded vs. failed statistics, end-to-end execution time, etc.

•	Service: maximum/minimum message size, CPU consumption time, etc.

Oracle TSAM Software Components

Oracle TSAM software consists of the following components:

•	Oracle TSAM Agent

Oracle TSAM agent enables collection of various performance metrics for applications. It includes the following sub-components:

•	Oracle TSAM Framework

•	Oracle TSAM Default Plug-in

•	Local Monitor Server (LMS)

•	Oracle TSAM Manager

Oracle TSAM Manager provides a graphical user interface to correlate and aggregate performance metrics collected from one or more Tuxedo domains and displays them in real time. It includes the following sub-components:

•	Oracle TSAM Console

•	Oracle TSAM Data Server

Installation Notes

Oracle TSAM 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.1.0) includes two components: Oracle TSAM Agent and Oracle TSAM Manager. For more information, see the Oracle TSAM Installation Guide.

Notes:

Weblogic Server must be version 11g Release 1(10.3.1)

Oracle TSAM Manager installation is not required on a machine running Tuxedo.

You must ensure that Oracle TSAM Agent is properly installed and configured on each monitored node in order to use in conjunction with Oracle TSAM Manager.

Upgrade Considerations

Monitored policy sets defined in Oracle TSAM 1.1 or Oracle TSAM 10gR3 can be exported to policy set definition files on the Oracle TSAM 1.1 or Oracle TSAM 10gR3 Console, and then imported to Oracle TSAM 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.1.0) via the TSAM Console.

Oracle TSAM 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.1.0) provides a migration tool to import the alerts defined in Oracle TSAM 1.1 or Oracle TSAM 10gR3.

If upgrading Oracle TSAM Agent from 1.1/10gR3 to 11gR1, you need to change the URL defined in CLOPT of LMS from //host:port/tsam/dataserver to //host:port/tsam.

Interoperability

Performance metrics and alerts collected by TSAM 1.1 or Oracle TSAM 10gR3 Agent can be reported to Oracle TSAM 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.1.0) Manager.

Oracle TSAM 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.1.0) Agent can work with TSAM 1.1 or Oracle TSAM 10gR3 Agent in MP and Domain mode.

Known Issues

	Workaround: After installing TSAM 11.1.1.1, upgrade the embedded Tomcat version to 6.0.45 or later. For more information, see the Apache Tomcat official web site.
2. 22903161	Problem: The Spring version embedded in TSAM 11.1.1.1 installer has security vulnerabilities.	11gR1 (11.1.1.1)
	Platform: Generic
	Workaround: After installing TSAM 11.1.1.1, upgrade the embedded Spring version to 4.1.9 or later.
3. 22806792	Problem: The Apache Commons Collections version embedded in TSAM 11.1.1.1 installer has security vulnerabilities.	11gR1 (11.1.1.1)
	Platform: Generic
	Workaround: After installing TSAM 11.1.1.1, upgrade the embedded Apache Commons Collections version to 3.2.2 or later.
