Create application-scoped Work Managers

To manage work in your applications, you can configure application-scoped Work Managers and associate them with your applications or with particular application components.

To create an application-scoped Work Manager:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane of the Console, select Deployments.
  3. In the Deployments table, click the name of the application for which you want to create a Work Manager.
  4. Select Configuration > Workload and click New.
  5. Enter a name for the new Work Manager.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).

Result

The new Work Manager appears in the Application-Scoped Work Managers table.

After you finish

After you have created an application-scoped Work Manager, you can assign a request class or constraint to it. Work Managers use request classes and constraints to determine how to prioritize work. For general information on request classes and constraints, see Using Work Managers to Optimize Scheduled Work. For more information on creating application-scoped request classes using the Administration Console, see Create application-scoped request classes. For more information on creating application-scoped constraints using the Administration Console, see Create application-scoped constraints.
