This graphic shows an example WebLogic application environment. It depicts three clients invoking the Managed Server instances that are configured in a cluster in the WebLogic domain. The client requests are received by a load balancer, which forwards the requests onto the target Managed Server, which is otherwise not exposed or directly available to client applications that are outside the firewall. The cluster consists of four Managed Server instances that are distributed across two physical machines. A third machine in the domain hosts the Administration Server and the Node Manager. The Managed Server instances share a common application directory, and the domain is configured with an RDBMS system.
