This chapter lists the software compatible with Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management (BRM) 7.5 server and client systems.
Before installing the BRM 7.5 server and client systems, note the following:
BRM 7.5 server components do not support any 32-bit server operating systems.
BRM 7.5 supports both AL32UTF8 and UTF8 character sets. The default character set is AL32UTF8 and is recommended for all new BRM 7.5 deployments. Upgrades from previous BRM versions can continue to use UTF8, although the recommendation is to migrate to AL32UTF8 to improve future support.
Oracle supports versions of that software where the software vendor declares backward compatibility to the version certified with BRM and where the upgrade is a minor version increment; for example, from 8.5.1 to 8.5.2.
The following principles are fundamental for maintaining a secure system:
Keep software up to date. You must keep the product and the installed software dependencies up to date. This includes the latest product release and any patches that apply to it.
Keep up to date on security information. Oracle regularly issues security-related patch updates and security alerts. You must install all security patches as soon as possible. See the "Critical Patch Updates and Security Alerts" article on the Oracle Technology Web site:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/alerts-086861.html
This section describes the primary software components compatible with an Oracle Solaris implementation.
Table 2-1 shows the versions of Solaris server and client operating systems compatible with BRM 7.5:

Note:
For BRM 7.5 Patch Set 4 or later patch sets, if BRM is installed on a Solaris server, install the 148198-03 for SPARC patch on that server. You can download the 148198-03 for SPARC patch from the My Oracle Support Web site (http://support.oracle.com
). For information about installing the Solaris patches, see the Oracle Solaris documentation. The following clients are supported on Solaris:
