Using Microsoft Windows 2003 SP1

In some Windows 2003 SP1 installations, you may experience an "Access Denied" message while connecting from Financial Management Win32 or Financial Management Web. The client machine event log will show a "General access denied" error.

Microsoft has provided the following workaround to resolve a code issue with their RPC layer by disabling bind time negotiation for security context multiplexing.

To disable bind time negotiation for security context multiplexing, you must install hotfix Q899148 (

Contact Microsoft Support directly for the Hot Fix.

After the Hotfix is obtained, follow these steps:

1. Select Start > Run, type regedit, and click OK.

2. Locate the following registry subkey: KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Rpc

3. Select Edit > New, and select DWORD Value.

4. Enter Server2003NegotiateDisable for the new DWORD Value.

5. Right-click Server2003NegotiateDisable and click Modify.

6. In the Value Data dialog box, type 1, and click OK. Note: This setting disables the bind time negotiation and multiple transfer syntax negotiation.

7. Exit the Registry Editor. Restart the Windows Server 2003-based computer.

Note: Hot Fix must be applied to all machines using Windows 2003 SP1 (App server, Web server, Reports Servers, etc.). If Win32 client is not being used, applying Hot Fix to the client machine is not necessary.

Defects Fixed in this Release

If you are coming from Release, use the Defects Fixed Finder tool to review the list of defects fixed between those releases and Release This tool is available here:

  • 12355143 - The Trend report on the Balance Sheet dashboard may take several minutes to load.

  • 13012517 - When using Oracle Business Intelligence Mobile application in iPad / iPhone, you cannot navigate across dashboard pages.

Known Issues

The following are the noteworthy known issues of this release:

Table 1. Table

Defect NumberKnown Issues

The OFMA.log is generated during configuration, but the contents of the file are not localized.

12799154, 12415627

If the Custom1 dimension is configured for 57 or more products, the Executive dashboard graphs are not displayed.

For all Trend Reports, the accounts in the hierarchy are sorted on expansion.

When a user logs on to Financial Management Analytics, all regions configured (either through configuration utility or manually) for the regions dropdown will be displayed in the POV selector, even if the user does not have access to all displayed regions.

If an unauthorized region is selected and applied, the report will not be generated, and the following error message is displayed as part of the error string on the dashboard:

The member ABCentity doesn't exist in this application.

In Financial Management Analytics, a report or chart is only displayed to the user if that user has view rights (All, Read, Promote, Metadata) to each dimension member used in the chart or report:

Custom dimension members (such as constant currency rate, products)chart or report.

If the user does not have the view rights to even one dimension member, the entire chart or report will not be displayed.

There are differences between the same application displayed in Financial Management and Financial Management Analytics as the result of differences in the rounding algorithm (only from the second decimal point) for data in OBIEE compared with that of Financial Management.

In this release, Trend reports display data only for base periods. Also, the Period dimension in the POV does impact the Trend report to the extent that the report shows data corresponding to the prior twelve points of the period selected in the POV.

In all Trend Analysis reports, across all dashboards, the expansion of accounts work fine, but it does not work as expected only in a particular scenario such as: When you click on the expand (+) sign next to an account, the report refreshes but when it comes back up, the account has not expanded. The account displays with the + sign, and no child accounts are displayed.

If you are using Internet Explorer 7, the Value and the Regions drop-downs appearcut off in the POV selector.

To work around this issue, click anywhere in the selection area to display the drop-down, and you can select the required option.

Some reports, such as Variance reports, allow users to expand the account hierarchy and drill down; however, expansion is not possible if the account in the report is at the level 8 or more in the Financial Management account hierarchy.

To work around this issue, if you need any Financial Management account that is level 8 or greater to display in the report, you must explicitly select the required accounts that are needed in these reports in the Configuration Utility. The selected accounts will be displayed separately (not under the parent) in the report.

When browsing from one dashboard to another in Financial Management Analytics, users with None rights for the default entity may experience nqsserver errors.

If your application's aliases for custom dimensions contain spaces, you may receive errors when working with the Gross Profit by Products graph on the Gross Profit dashboard.

Labels for the Trend report in the Process Management dashboard may not display correctly if the selected Scenario has a default frequency of Quarterly.

When you select Q1 for the period in the POV selector, the Performance Indicator Trend report may incorrectly display 13 periods.

For French applications only, graphs are not displayed.

To work around this issue, enter "abc" as the application name to enable the graphs, rather than the localized application name with special characters may not work.

13844832, 13849425

While upgrading the Hyperion Financial Management Client installation from to, then EPM configuration launches an error message.

Column names may occasionally display vertically.

> To work around this issue:

1. Access to OFMA dashboard 2. Select Performance Indicator tab 3. Edit Performance Indicator YOY table. 4. Go to Result tab, and then Edit Table from the view. 5. Go to Column & Measure, and then select Variance more option, and then select Format heading. 6. Uncheck Wrap text check box and then click Ok. 7. Go to Criteria Tab, and then Save the report. 8. Go to Performance Indicator dashboard to verify the fix.

During FCM configuration, the tnsnames.ora file present in the OBIEE installed folder is always updated with the Oracle Database details. If the environment has uses a different file specified in the TNS_Admin environment variable, it has to be manually updated with the FCM datasource.

  1. uring configuration some temporary files may be generated in the following location: <ofma_install_location>\OFMA folder, which can be ignored.

If you are using IE 8 - Internet Explorer browser, the Performance Indicators Trend graph is not displayed. This issue is due to the thousands separator in the properties. This is an OBIEE issue, refer bug number 13818618.

After upgrading the Hyperion Financial Management to the Process management dashboard graphs error out.

This issue may be due to the following files were renamed, because of which the graphs were failing. As a workaround, perform the following:

  1. At the following location: <ofma_install_location>\OFMA\FinancialManagementAnalytics\root\shared\ofma\ofma-reports\process+management

  1. code}. Rename the following files

From processmgmttrendanalysis_ps1 to processmgmttrendanalysis

From processmgmtstatistics_ps1 to processmgmtstatistics

From processmgmtmetrics_ps1 to processmgmtmetrics

  1. Restart the OPMN services.

Tips and Troubleshooting

Common Errors

Table 2. Table

ProblemPossible Cause(s)
  • The connection pool may not be set correctly based on users accessing the system; or

  • Connectivity issues may exist between the machines hosting OBIEE and/or Financial Management; or

  • A Financial Management patch may need to be applied in the distributed environment

  • If the server response is slow, the graphs may time-out based on settings in OBIEE; or

  • You may need to refresh the report

  • Dashboards often do not reflect changes to metadata; this typically happens when re-configuring using the Configuration Utility

  • You may need to delete cache using Cache Manager or Enterprise Manager

  • Financial Management patch(es) may need to be applied

  • OBIEE patch may need to be applied

It may be because of the Financial Close Management database schema's administrator password changed, then perform the following steps:

  1. Using the online mode, open the Oracle Financial Management Analytics RPD file, file name for example: FinancialManagementAnalytics.rpd.

  1. In Physical layer of the repository file, under the Financial Close Management node, select the Connection Pool.

  1. In the General tab, enter the valid user credentials details and click OK to save the repository.

This issue occurs when you try to connect for another OBIEE server other than machine, where OFMA Configuration Utility is running.
