This chapter describes Oracle Discoverer metrics.

Discoverer

Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer is a business intelligence tool for analyzing data. Discoverer provides an integrated business intelligence solution comprising a set of intuitive ad-hoc query, reporting, analysis, and Web-publishing tools. These tools enable nontechnical users to gain immediate access to information from data marts, data warehouses, and online transaction processing systems. Discoverer integrates seamlessly with Oracle Portal, enabling rapid deployment of Discoverer workbooks and worksheets to Web portals.

Discoverer Components

Provides information about the metrics aggregated at the level of each Discoverer component.

Total CPU Time (millisec)

This metric specifies the total CPU usage time (in milliseconds) for all the Discoverer server sessions of the selected component on the host machine.

Component Name

This metric indicates the name of the Discoverer component for which the metrics are displayed.

Connection Details

This metric specifies the database user, the database, and the EUL to which the session is connected. The format of this metric value is databaseuser@database - EUL.

Total Private Memory (MB)

This metric specifies the amount of total private memory (in megabytes) used by the Discoverer server session on the host machine.

This metric indicates the discoverer client session ID.

SSO User Name

If Single Sign-On (SSO) is enabled for Discoverer, this column identifies the SSO user that is using the current session. Information about the SSO user is meaningful only for Discoverer Plus and Discoverer Viewer because SSO users work in Plus and Viewer sessions interactively. For Discoverer Portlet Provider, information about the SSO user might not be meaningful because Discoverer Portlet Provider runs queries in the background, and a query could run as a given SSO user even when that SSO user is not currently logged in.

Discoverer Application

CPU Idle (%)

This metric specifies the CPU idle time (in percentage) on the host machine.

Discoverer Components

This metric displays the total CPU and memory consumption for all current sessions created by each Discoverer component (Discoverer Plus, Discoverer Viewer, or Discoverer Portlet Provider). Note that the total CPU and memory consumption displayed here is only for the sessions and does not include the CPU and memory consumption of the servlets for these components. This metric also displays the total number of sessions created by the component.

CPU Usage (%)

This metric specifies the total CPU usage for the sessions created by each Discoverer UI component. The total CPU usage does not include CPU usage for the servlets of these components. For CPU usage of servlets, see the Discoverer application page under the OC4J_BI_Forms home page.

Memory Usage (MB)

This metric specifies the total memory usage for the sessions spawned by the given UI component. The total memory usage does not include memory usage for the servlets of these components. For memory usage of servlets, see the Discoverer application page under the OC4J_BI_Forms home page.

Number of Sessions

This metric specifies the total number of Discoverer sessions created by the given component.

Total Discoverer CPU Usage

This metric displays the total CPU percentage used by all Discoverer sessions running on the machine at a given time. The total CPU usage does not include the CPU usage of the servlets for Discoverer Plus, Viewer, or Portlet Provider. For the CPU usage of these servlets, see the Discoverer application page from the OC4J_BI_Forms home page in the EM standalone console.

Total Discoverer CPU Usage (%)

This metric specifies the percentage of CPU used by all Discoverer sessions running on the machine at a given time. The total CPU usage does not include the CPU usage of the servlets for Discoverer Plus, Viewer, and Portlet Provider. For the CPU usage of these servlets, see the Discoverer application page from the OC4J_BI_Forms home page in the EM standalone console.

Metric Summary

Total Discoverer Memory Usage

This metric displays the total memory used by all Discoverer sessions running on the machine at a given time. The total memory usage does not include the memory usage of the servlets for Discoverer Plus, Viewer, or Portlet Provider. For the memory usage of these servlets, see the Discoverer application page from the OC4J_BI_Forms home page in the EM standalone console.

Discoverer Plus Sessions

This metric displays information about all the Discoverer sessions created by Discoverer Plus. The information included for each session is the session ID, OS Process ID, memory usage of the session, CPU usage for the session, database and EUL to which the session is connected, and, if SSO is enabled, the SSO user using the session.

Component Type

This metric specifies the Discoverer UI component that started the Discoverer Plus, Discoverer Viewer, or Discoverer Portlet Provider session.

CPU Usage (%)

This metric specifies the percentage CPU usage for this session.

DBUser@DB - EUL

This metric specifies the database user, database name, and EUL for this session.

Memory Usage (MB)

This metric specifies the memory used (in megabytes) for this session.

OS Process ID

This metric indicates the operating system process ID for the session.

SSO User

This metric indicates the name of the Single Sign-On (SSO) user for this session.

Discoverer Portlet Provider Sessions

This metric displays information about all the Discoverer sessions created by Discoverer Portlet Provider. The information included for each session is the session ID, OS Process ID, memory usage of the session, CPU usage for the session, database and EUL to which the session is connected, and, if SSO is enabled, the SSO user using the session.

Component Type

This metric specifies the Discoverer UI component that started the Discoverer Plus, Discoverer Viewer or Discoverer Portlet Provider session.

CPU Usage (%)

This metric specifies the percentage CPU usage for this session.

DBUser@DB - EUL

This metric specifies the database user, database name, and EUL for this session.

It includes the following information: session ID, OS Process ID, Discoverer UI component (that is, Discoverer Plus, Discoverer Viewer, or Discoverer Portlet Provider) that created the session, memory usage of the session, CPU usage for the session, database and EUL to which the session is connected, and, if Single Sign-On (SSO) is enabled, the SSO user using the session.

Component Type

This metric indicates the Discoverer UI component that started the Discoverer Plus, Discoverer Viewer or Discoverer Portlet Provider session.

CPU Usage (%)

This metric specifies the percentage of CPU used for all the Discoverer sessions.

DBUser@DB - EUL

This metric specifies the database user, the database, and the EUL to which the session is connected. The format is databaseuser@database - EUL.

This metric displays the total number of sessions created by Discoverer Viewer at any given time on the machine.

Discoverer Viewer Sessions

This metric displays information about all the Discoverer sessions created by Discoverer Viewer. The information included for each session is the session ID, OS Process ID, memory usage of the session, CPU usage for the session, database and EUL to which the session is connected, and, if SSO is enabled, the SSO user using the session.
