Service Registry Overview

A registry offers a mechanism for humans or software applications to advertise and discover Web services. At this release, the Service Registry implements Version 3.0 of the ebXML Registry specifications to provide an ebXML registry for Web services. You can use it with the Java WSDP APIs as a test registry for Web services application development.

You can use the Service Registry to test applications that you develop that use the Java API for XML Registries (JAXR). The Registry includes a JAXR provider for the Registry. You can also use the Web Console provided with the Registry to perform queries and updates on registry data. A command-line administrative tool is also included.

Information and content published to a registry is stored in a stable store called a repository, which the registry maintains.
