Oracle Mobile Collaboration

Advanced Preferences

When you click Advanced on the First Time User Configuration and Access Information screen or on the Returning User Mobile Collaboration Settings screen, the Advanced Mobile Access Preferences screen appears. Here you can set your contact preferences for notification, define or redefine your mobile telephones, and set other preferences.

Advanced Mobile Access Preferences Screen

The Advanced Preferences Screen enables you to manage your communication devices, and how you want to be contacted.

The My Contact Rules section of the screen enables you to define the way messages and notifications are sent to you. Each rule is given a unique name. By default, three rules are created for each user: At My Desk, On The Go, and Unavailable. One of the rules is set as Current, and that rule is used to determine how to contact or notify you. To make a rule current, select the option corresponding to the rule in the Select column and click Set Current. You can also select a rule to be current from your mobile device portal Preferences link on a PDA browser application, or by using the Contact Switcher on your WAP device.

To edit a rule, select the rule and click Edit. To delete a rule, select the rule and click Delete. You may add a new rule by clicking Add. When you click Add or Edit you will be redirected to the Create New Contact Rule or Edit Contact Rule screens respectively. The User Preferences screen is shown below.

User Preferences Screen

The User Preferences Screen enables you to change your Single Sign-On password.

Perform the following steps to edit your device settings:

  1. Enter a unique name into the Contact Rule Name field.

  2. In the Device Settings section, specify which communication devices are to be used for voice, e-mail, fax, and text (SMS) notification delivery to you. The names appearing in the list for each field are the names of the communication devices you have defined.

  3. Notification Settings enables you to choose the notification channel and the time period for which this channel should be used for notification delivery. The channel used corresponds to the current device. The Notification Days field enables you to specify whether notifications should be delivered daily, on weekdays only, weekends only, or just once. The Outside the Active Time Period field enables you to choose what you want to do with notifications outside the specified period. You can delay the delivery of the messages until the next notification period or discard the notification.

  4. The My Communication Devices section shows all the communication devices that you have defined and enables you to add, edit, and delete entries. A Communication Device is a logical entity that is used to encapsulate various ways of receiving messages. Every communication device must have a unique name among the communication devices you define. Different types of communication devices have different properties. To add a new communication device, choose the type of the device from the list. The possible types are: telephone number, fax number, mobile telephone number, e-mail address and PDA. Depending on the type you choose, the corresponding screen is displayed. Enter the requested information on the screen and click Finish. If you would like to change a property of your mobile telephone, or if you want the Oracle Collaboration Suite server to automatically configure the client programs on your mobile telephone, then select the option corresponding to the device and click Edit, or select Mobile Telephone type from the list and click Add. This will take you to the Edit: My Mobile Telephone screen.

In the Advanced Mobile Access Preferences screen, the User Preferences section enables you to choose your language and time zone. You can choose to show or hide the images (icons representing various objects) on your PDA browser-based applications. If you choose to hide the images, then the PDA browser-based applications use text labels instead. This can significantly improve the performance of your PDA browser-based applications. You can also choose this option from your mobile device portal Preference link (a browser application).

After making the necessary changes click Apply to commit your changes.
