Figure 1-1 shows the basic network architecture of Oracle Clinical 4.6, with the client tier on the left, the application-tier servers in the middle, and database-tier servers on the right. An icon represents each component, with text below that describes the required Oracle Clinical software. The client is depicted as a desktop computer with a monitor. There are double-pointed arrows diagonally up and to the right from the client to the Application (Forms) Server, and diagonally down and to the right from the client to the Reports Server. The Forms Server and Reports Server computers are both depicted as application server computers. The Forms Server includes the Forms Server software, AS10gR2, and Oracle Clinical. The Application and Reports Servers communicate with each other, so a double-pointed arrow connects these computers. A double-pointed arrow also connects each Application Server and the Database Server. The database tier includes the database server, PSUB Server, and SAS Server.
