The bootMonitor(1M) uses boot agents to locate and boot the required system image. bootConfig is used to select the boot agent to be used and to enable some parameters that describe the boot environment to be passed.
The boot configuration is specified by a string. This string can be entered by setting an environment variable in the system image or directly at the bootMonitor prompt (if the CONS boot agent is used).
This string starts with a keyword that selects the boot agent to be used. The possible keywords are:
RARP
TFTP
DHCP
DISK
FLASH
NVRAM
CONS
In order to set the BOOTCONF environment variable use the configurator(1CC) command. For example:
configurator -setenv BOOTCONF=RARP |
If no BOOTCONF environment variable is provided the default CONS boot agent is used.
For more information on boot agents, their available parameters and some examples see bootAgent(1M).
