Unable to Install Localized PDF Documentation on Solaris 2.6, Solaris 7, or Solaris 8 Operating Environment

The localized PDF documentation package names are longer than nine characters. If you are installing the localized collections on a system that is running the Solaris 2.6, Solaris 7, or Solaris 8 operating environment, you need to apply appropriate patches to support these longer package names.

Workaround: Follow these steps to install localized PDF documentation packages in the Solaris 7 or Solaris 8 operating environment:

Note –

No patches exist at the time of this release for Solaris 2.6 servers.

  1. Log in to the system that is running the Solaris 7 operating environment or the Solaris 8 operating environment.

  2. Go to the SunSolve program patch site at http://sunsolve.Sun.COM/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=patches/patch-access.

  3. In the Find Patch field, provide the appropriate patch IDs from Table 1–1 .

    Note –

    Check the SunSolve site to make sure that you are downloading the current version of the patch.

  4. Click Download HTTP or Download FTP for each patch you want to download.

  5. Change to the directory with the library .zip patch package.

  6. Unzip the library patch package.


    % unzip library-patch-id.zip

  7. Become superuser.

  8. Apply the patch.


    # patchadd library-patch-id

  9. Repeat Steps 5 through 8 for the second patch you downloaded in Step 4.

  10. Install the Sun Management Center 3.5 localized PDF collection packages.
