Configure the RSM Network and the DLPI

This chapter describes the optional next steps after following the procedures in the preceding chapters:

• Configuring the Remote Shared Memory network
• Configuring the Data Link Provider Interface (optional)

To Configure the RSM Network

After installing the Sun Fire Link software, the next step is to configure the Remote Shared Memory controllers. Configuring the RSM network is necessary for the Sun Management Center 3.5 Sun Fire Link add-on component to work.This step can be done in two ways.

• By using Sun Management Center software. (Recommended method).
• By using the Sun Fire Link Manager from the command line.

Both methods are described in the Sun Fire Link Fabric Administrator's Guide in the /cdrom/sun-fire-link_1.1 directory.

To Configure the DLPI (Optional)

After configuring the RSM controllers, you might want to configure the Data Link Provider Interface to permit communication via the TCP/IP protocol. Configuring the DLPI is not necessary for the Sun Management Center 3.5 Sun Fire Link add-on component to work.Use your preferred method, as on any other cluster interconnect.
