Sun Management Center 3.5 Release Notes for the Sun Fire, Sun Blade and Netra Systems

This document contains additional information to supplement the Sun Management Center 3.5 Supplement for Sun Fire, Sun Blade and Netra Systems (817-3771-13).

Known Issues

The following bugs are known at the time of publication.

Agent sometimes does not report second disks. [6213531]

To see a second disk on a system containing two, boot the system with the -r option:

# boot -r

If you boot without the -r option, the second disk might not be reported.

DVD drive might not be highlighted in Physical view. [4502571]

In the Physical view, the DVD drive might not be highlighted when you move the mouse over it. If this happens, stop and restart the picl daemon.

Physical views on Sun Blade (Silver) platforms do not display accurate chassis colors. [6210876]

For the Sun Blade 2500/1500 (Silver) systems, some of the images displayed in the Topology view and the Platform Physical Views may not match the actual physical colors for the Sun Blade 2500/1500 (Silver) systems. They may instead display the colors for the Sun Blade 2500/1500 (Red) systems.

Also, the "system-side" Physical view that displays the motherboard and other internal components for the Sun Blade 2500 (Silver) does not display the DIMM Duct and the Disk Fan assembly.

The Sun Management Center agent might not report external disks reliably when they are hot-plugged. [4829764]

Hot-plug removals, insertions, and reconfiguration of external storage devices are not detected dynamically by the agents, although they are correctly reported at agent initialization.

The XVR-1200 graphics card is identified incorrectly as the XVR-500. [4856644]

The XVR-1200 graphics card is listed incorrectly as a XVR-500 graphics card in the Expansion Card Table and the Physical View.

The HDD Service LED should not be modelled as the LED is not physically present. [4907414]

This bug applies to Suntrademark Management Center 3.5 on the Sun Firetrademark V250 platform.

The firmware on certain systems reports a Service LED which is not present on the system. This LED is also modelled in Sun Management Center and the LED should report its state as off.

Console create node operation fails if it is executed immediately after agent startup. [4908602]

If you attempt to create a Sun Management Center 3.5 topology object for a server immediately after the agent has been started, the operation fails with this message:

Cannot contact agent - check host/port.

This error occurs because at startup the agent initialization code is executing and the agent will not respond to console and/or server requests while it is running.

Depending on the platform, initialization takes up to three minutes, and once completed you can complete the create node operation successfully.
