Sun Management Center 3.6.1 Installation and Configuration Guide

HP OpenView Operations Integration

HP OpenView (HPOV) Operations, formerly known as VantagePoint Operations, is a distributed client/server software product for managing distributed environments. HPOV Operations is a centralized management console (server) that allows users to interact with agents running on host systems being managed.

Sun Management Center complements the features of HPOV Operations by providing in-depth monitoring and management of Sun products. Integration between HPOV Operations and Sun Management Center is accomplished through the HPOV agent and Sun Management Center server.

HPOV Integration Key Features

HPOV and Sun Management Center integration enables you to do the following tasks:

HPOV Integration Key Components

The key components for HPOV integration are as follows:

HPOV Integration Prerequisites

To integrate the Sun Management Center and HP OpenView Operations, the integration software must be installed on the HPOV server host and then distributed to all systems hosting Sun Management Center servers. This integration is facilitated by HPOV distribution capabilities.

The installation on the HPOV Operations server automatically adds a number of icons to the HPOV Application Bank, enabling operators to start the Sun Management Center console.

Event forwarding is performed through a mapper process, which connects to the Sun Management Center server and the HPOV agents.

HPOV Integration Supported Platforms

HPOV is supported on Solaris 7, Solaris 8, Solaris 9, and Solaris 10 releases.
