These product notes provide news and issues about the Sun InfiniBand Dual Port 4x DDR PCIe® Fabric Expansion Module (IB-FEM).
The following information is up-to-date at the time this manual was written. Go to http://www.sun.com for the latest information. Subsequent versions of this document have a higher number following the final dash. That is, 820-7294-10 becomes 820-7294-11.
Only compatible Sun servers with the Linux operating system (OS) are supported with the IB-FEM. The Solaris OS does not support the IB-FEM at this time.
The firmware version on your IB-FEM should be ready to use and should not require updating. However, if you want to update the firmware for any reason, you must use vendor-specific and (generally) OS-specific firmware updating tools.
The IB-FEM firmware for this release and any future firmware releases, can be downloaded from the Sun Download Center (SDLC) at:
This section describes the known issues and workarounds at the time of this release.
When the Sun Blade 6048 InfiniBand QDR Switched Network Express Module (IB‐QNEM) is power-cycled or hot‐plugged, all the IB links on the two IB dual port 4x DDR PCIe Fabric Expansion Modules (FEMs) plugged into Sun Blade X6270 Server Module will be lost.
Workaround: Reboot the Sun Blade X6270 Server Module after power-cycling or hot‐plugging the IB-QNEM.
